Veganism is not a sacrifice. It is a joy.”
Before I start my todays blog,I would like to share my experience about this platter...although we don't reside from batmaloo area nor we have NY connection with that area but as I belong to Kubravi clan,we follow & respect sufisim,we have huge respect for all the Sufi saints of Kashmir and respect their religion rituals and scarifies which they made for kashmir.....A LAND OF SPIRITUALITY (PEER VEER)
SO TALKING ABOUT THIS PLATTER,THIS ONE HOLDS GREAT RESPECT AND LOVE IN MY HEART,AS MY MOM USED TO COOK IT FOR ENTIRE FAMILY THAT TOO ALL ALONE,FROM CHOPPING TO SERVING ALL DONE BY HER SELF.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND (FROM Dr.M.RD.KUNDANGAR BLOGS)
Today is the day celebrated as pure vegetarian giving complete halt to mutton , Fish or Chicken, in the memory of famous Reshi saint Hazrat Baba Dawood Reshi ( RA), popularly known in the valley as Batamouel Saieb. In my childhood days thousands of people both men and women would throng Batamaloo and would be a great Mella with hustle n bustle. In the shrine itself there would Darood u Azhar while the entire Locality would be full of aroma coming from the households in the lanes and bylanes. Many families across the Valley do also celebrate “Batmouel Saeibun” day with full preparations of iconic dishes comprising of Boiled eggs ( Zambree Thool), Cheese with dried turnips ( Gogji Aaree) Moong Dal with dried brinjals ( Wangan Hutche).
My Babi has been preparing all above mentioned dishes each year for last more than three decades n we are lucky enough to have our share too and thus enjoy the day.I recall few words about Batmouel saieb, which I would like to reproduce here for the interest of my friends.
“Shaikh Dawood(R.A.) would procure meals generally Wugra or a soft mixture of rice and milk in a big vessels and would keep it near his field. He would serve the meal to all those who passed by his field. It was because of this humble social service of doling out the food that he came to be known as Bata Mol or the paternal food giver and ‘Nourisher’. It may be added here that the 11th Hijra or 15th century A.D in Kashmir was a witness to many manmade or natural calamities like Earth quake, untimely rains, floods, massive fires, communal riots etc. In such a conflict age the philanthropic activities of Shaikh Daud would have acquired all the more significance. Commoners particularly the destitute and the poor ones badly failed to earn their livelihood and could not have something to eat. In such a situation the needy ones flocked to the hospices maintained by the Sufis and Saints to fill their bellies.”
May Allah be pleased with Batmouel Saieb ( RA) and those devotees too who make our day with special vegetarian dishes .
May almight satisfy our tummy ,&may Allah guide us at every step.
